Maybe it's down to my asian genetics, in fact, I know it's down to my asian genetics, that I was certainly not blessed with the priviledge of naturally full and lengthy eyelashes. As you can see, without any mascara on, searching for a visible set of lashes using the naked eye, and not a microscope, proves to be pretty tricky. I am lucky enough to be blessed with thin and short top eyelashes, that naturally point downwards.
But, with a lick of (in this case, Benefit's 'They're Real') mascara, I begin to look slighty more alive and the little that I do have can finally be seen!
Due to my my extremely shallow insecurity, I'm constantly looking for miracle products that actually do all they promise to and enhance and create a healthy set of voluminous and lengthy lashes. I can't say I am the most dedicated or self disciplined person to ever grace this earth, so I am yet to try out continuous treatments such as growth serums etc. (nor do I have the cash to splash on 'experimenting') so my begginning started simply at testing out the hype of the eyelash curler. I warn you, I say 'lashes', 'mascara' and 'curl' a lot in this post. Thesaurus.com couldnt exactly save me this time.
I began on a naked eye, and simply grabbed and pumped (haha) my eyelashes for roughly 20 seconds with my eyelash curlers. Immediately I could see a definite curl, but I applied some mascara to see the full effect.
Yes, I can see a difference and my eyes have opened up slightly, but taking into considoration the eye watering and uncomfortablity during the process I wasnt satisfied that all the faffing was really all that worth it. So, being me, I decided to have another whirl and try out what it would be like to double up the curling process and curl my eyelashes again, on top of the mascara that I had already applied, and then apply even more mascara to replace any I had worked off with my curlers. (wow, tricky sentence to try and construct)
As you can see, the numerous amount of layers of mascara seemed to drown my eyelashes and the curlers clumped them all together. So, unless I suddenly decide I want to rock the six eyelashes look, I doubt I'll be using this 'technique' ever again.
All in all I wasnt overwhelmed by the effects of the eyelash curler, although I have seen dramatic differences to other peoples' eyes, my verdict is that there needs to be something substantial to work with in the first place. So I guess the search goes on for my miracle product and I shall be sticking to the falsies on a night out for the time being. Damn you genetics.
